Art Tours at the DC Convention Center

Dena Crosson, an art historian, certified appraiser, and docent, and I are pleased to be co-Curators of the permanent collection at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, DC.

The art collection, comprising more than 100 works, includes a variety of works in painting, photography, sculpture, multimedia, and installation art. Artists represented include Sol LeWitt, Sam Gilliam, Pat Steir, Jim Sanborn, Donald Lipski, Kendall Buster, and Carrie Mae Weems. There are several unique, epic, site specific works and some great selfie opportunities.

We offer up to 8 tours a year, including tours for private groups on request. You can view a current schedule of the public tours, which are always free of charge, along with all details and registration information, here on Eventbrite.

The tour takes just under an hour, is convenient to the Metro (Green/Yellow line to Mt. Vernon Square), and there are many new places to grab a bite or cocktail before or after the tour. It’s also walkable from Gallery Place metro. We hope you can join us one evening soon!

You can also find the events listed on Facebook, and follow these tags and accounts on Instagram: #artatthecenter @robinmo @eventsdc @crossonmoore_dmvart

As curator, I am also in charge of maintenance and cataloging of the collection. No new acquisitions are planned.

Questions? I’d love to hear from you.
