Fine Art Appraisals

Robin Moore brings her appraisal clients:

  • a lifetime of experience in Contemporary Fine Art

  • an inclination toward practical and business topics

  • attention to detail

  • deep research skills, online and offline

  • particular passion for conceptual art, photography, and artists’ books.

Moore is an alum of the CASP program of the Appraisers Association of America. She is USPAP-compliant through December 2026.

Insurance

Moore creates easily understood, well documented reports for insurance scheduling purposes. In the event of damage or loss, this background material is invaluable to help you make the most of your collection and your policy.

Even if you don’t buy or sell work frequently, you want your insurance policy to reflect the latest changes in value.

Whether your treasures are in your home, in storage, or on loan, whether you’re ready with a list of works or not, Moore can help bring you the peace of mind that all collectors and artists deserve.

Estate Tax Filing

Settling an estate is difficult enough for folks who don’t have complex art collections or family members disputing value. A thorough, well researched, USPAP-compliant appraisal can help settle your questions and assure the other professionals, including accountants, financial planners, and attorneys on your team.

Moore has direct experience of complex estate situations with her own family as well as many clients. It’s something to take seriously.

And, bonus: she understands the family stuff, too.

Digital Integration

With a long background setting up visual databases for collector and artist clients with complex, multi-location collections consisting of hundreds of artworks, Moore is an evangelist for using the right technology.

Databases help collectors minimize errors, maximize value, and manage conservation and storage costs. It can be economical to implement a new program after a periodic appraisal because the data is all in one place.

And in the event of damage, loss, or dispute, having a clean digital record showing ownership and care can be essential.

Collection Support

It is very easy to get overwhelmed by the “not fun parts” of owning a lot of art. It is especially difficult if you haven’t transitioned yet to a useable visual database of your inventory.

I understand the art markets inside and out, with an incisive, analytical eye towards what information is most important for collectors. I’m a digital native, so it’s easy for me to apply the latest, easiest tools. And I have good knowledge of art history, particularly within Modern and Contemporary art, and a great eye, so I can understand where you’re coming from. Some of the work I’ve done for clients includes:

  • Straightening out records for a 1,000+ work collection encompassing offices in several cities;

  • Coordinating museum-quality conservation projects; and

  • Ensuring that a collector’s insurance schedules are updated with latest valuations.

I also build and update databases for artists and photographers (and I know your needs are different!). A great inventory system can make it easier for you to submit work to curators and calls for entry, and understand patterns of sales by medium, subject, or price point.

If you can’t right now pin down where something is, perhaps I can streamline your record keeping or take a load off your shoulders. Reach out today using my contact page.
