DC Convention Center Art Collection
Our outstanding $4M collection was acquired between 2000 and 2003, while the Convention Center was being built. The collection includes several epic scale site specific works commissioned specifically for the space, including a Sol LeWitt wall drawing, and pieces by Pat Steir, Donald Lipski, Jim Sanborn (detail shown to the left), Kendall Buster, and Sara Sze.
Moving throughout the million square foot building you will find surprise at every turn, in works by Carrie Mae Weems, Radcliffe Bailey, Trevor Young, Chul-Hyun Ahn, Tom Nakashima, Bill Dunlap, Billy Colbert, Rik Freeman, and scores of others. The wonderful collection was selected during several calls for entry, and by a panel including curators from this Federal city’s outstanding museums. The Convention Center collection include a high percentage of DC and regional artists, artists of color, and women artists, and all media including photography and installation art.

Public Art
As Curator of the best public art collection in the nation’s capital, I am honored to know and work with some of the country’s finest installation artists. You can see these outstanding works on one of our public tours by signing up in advance here, or add yourself to the mailing list at that link.
I’d love to discuss how your institution can implement your latest project, or develop an outstanding grouping of works, whether public or private. Whether you need help envisioning a huge project, need a solution for a quirky space, or just want to work with someone who doesn’t freak out when you request a schedule showing “multiple tiered dependencies,”* reach out using the contact form.
